I grew up in the Valley, about as close to the border as you can get. My dad was a crop duster, and when I wasn’t spending summers flagging fields and flying a small, private plane, I was painting pictures and taking art lessons. Art and design have always been passions of mine. So, after graduating from Texas A&M with a degree in environmental design, I spent the next few years working for several established firms. But starting my own business was another dream of mine, and in 1989 a builder told me he could keep me busy if I ever wanted to go off on my own.  My business grew slowly as I began taking on side work, using a spare bedroom as an office. I eventually grew my clientele to a point where I was able to take the leap.

In 2000 my wife and I made the decision to move north of the Dallas metroplex, with the desire of raising our two kids in a smaller community with more acreage. We bought an old gun and tackle shop on the quiet downtown square of Celina, Texas, and spent several months repurposing it into an architectural studio. We knew it would be quite an undertaking, but my wife and I have always loved the small town feel and history of the square, and breathing new life into old structures is a challenge we enjoy taking on.

After our kids were grown, we moved out of the house I designed and built, into a craftsmen style home a couple blocks from where I office. Most days I ride my bicycle to work and come home for lunch. Over the years, I have been blessed to have built a very successful architecture business that gives me the ability to travel and work remotely. From a small island off of Belize to the mountains of North Carolina, I aim to live by the words of Helen Keller, "life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all."
