Meet the Team

Darron Schmitt

Darron has owned and operated RDGS Architects since 1989, with projects in his portfolio in both residential and commercial spaces.

Darron served multiple terms on the Historic Preservation Committee in the rapidly growing city of Celina, TX and has provided architectural design services for a number of the shops, restaurants and office buildings on the popular downtown historic square.

As a graduate of Texas A&M University with a degree in Environmental Design and a licensed architect for 35 years, Darron brings artistic talent, a love for architecture and decades of experience to every project.

When away from his desk, Darron is an avid airplane enthusiast and licensed pilot. He’s passionate about music, food & wine, and finding sustainable, affordable housing solutions. He has fallen in love with the Blue Ridge mountains and spends as much time as possible at his 12-acre farm in the picturesque community of Todd, North Carolina, where he and his wife are currently building a tiny house.

Jarod Schmitt

Jarod Schmitt joined RDGS Architects in 2018 after completing his bachelor’s degree from the University of North Texas. What started as a side gig quickly grew into a new passion and after a few years learning various aspects of the craft from his father, he decided to take the plunge and embark on the path to licensure.

In 2025, Jarod earned a Master of Architecture degree from Arizona State University where he studied under renowned architect, Arne Emerson (partner at Morphosis Architects in LA and former design principal at Studio Daniel Libeskind).

Jarod and his wife, Becca, live in Todd, NC with their schnorgi (schnauzer/ corgi) Oliver. In addition to architecture, Jarod is a skilled drummer/ multi-instrumentalist who performs regularly with a variety of bands in North Carolina.
